It's a odd coincidence this I live in the Lake District and had been sawing up some wood with the chainsaw when I spotted a very large wasp in its death throes on the floor of the trailer
I took it to be a small wood wasp (we get a lot of those large fearsome looking ba$tards, which are actually quite harmless though the grubs dig quite large holes into timber), but then another large wasp turned up, which definitely wasn't a wood wasp, but an ordinary wasp which was very large
With regards to spider vs wasp I can tell a very different story
Me & my mate came across a large spider with its web in a privet hedge. My mate had a wasp trap (jam jar with jam & water in it) in which he had trapped about 15 wasps all still full of life
We decided to set up a fight. We carefully lifted a lively wasp out of the trap with some tweezers & placed it in the web
The spider was across in a flash and mummified the was with silk in less than a second, leaving it hanging there lifeless 1-0. No contest!
We tried another wasp, same result 2-0
And another & another 3-0, 4-0 easy
In the end there was a little line of over 10 mummified wasp corpses hanging like a little line of washing from the web
Spider vs Wasp I'd put money on the spider every time!

'bruuuno 9:08 Tue Apr 14 Re: Is this the year of massive (MASSIVE) WASPS? my party trick is catching a wasp and carefully extracting its sting whilst still alive, then releasing it to buzz around scaring people who now have no reason to be scared of it'
Why make something up that is so obviously untrue, makes you look a cunt anyway and is posted in the style of a 14 year old Danny Dyer wannabe?

They'd manage it.' Bones' would be a superhero and the ants would be terrorists, machine like automatons bent on the destruction of the free world.

Funnily enough I saw a a wasp the other day too.
Immediate thoughts were "fook, that's a big bastard" and "bit early isn't it?".
So yes, it could well be the year of the mega wasp.
I blatted it with the flat edge of a rip saw.
I fucking hate wasps.

Neil, someone should challenge Pixar or Disney to make a cuddly hero out of a bonehouse wasp.

The DWELLER in my shed is a spider-eating wasp. It's hive is something like a cross between a flying saucer and a papal hat. So the are pretty wacky architects '85.

Nurse, I challenge anybody to put the case for wasps. It is impossible, for they do not have a case.
Bees on the other hand are largely furry, cuddly honey-making friends. And they're clever. They are incredibly clever. And not vindictive kamikazee Nazi insects. At all.

You should have captured it and dropped it down the fat blokes back next home gams. Now watching Allardyce explode would make up for probably the worst run ever

Ruthless little bastards. We had a nest under the porch a while back, and one day I saw a large spider just hanging on a thread, dead, with a couple of wasps around it. Didn't even bother chopping it up for food just killed it and left it dangling there, executed.
In other wasp type news the hornets in southern Europe are fucking enormous.
